SCC Automotive Summer Camp – Students 16 years old and older

Registration Deadline:  May 26, 2017 OR the first 60 applicants

June 9 & 10, 2017 on SCC’s Milford campus – Will give students a glimpse into the exciting career field of Automotive Technology.  This will be strictly a hands-on camp, with a near 3-to-1 student-to-instructor ratio.  Tuition is $29 per participant (non-refundable).  Includes tools, meals, housing, and transportation to a special activity.  Registration forms available in the LNE Counseling Center.

 

Lincoln Electrical Apprenticeships – Seniors

Three apprentice programs are available:

*The Inside Program encompasses all types of electrical work other than outside Lineman work and is a 5-year program.

*The Installer Technician Program involves work on lower voltage systems, such as, data communications, fire alarms, security and fiber optics and is a 3-year program.

*The Construction Wireman/Construction Electrician program is a self-paced program and encompasses the same work processes as the Inside program.

There is currently a shortage of skilled electricians that will continue as the Baby Boomer generation begin to retire.  These apprenticeships are “Earn-While-You-Learn” opportunities, and are located in Lincoln.  Go to the Lincoln Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) website for further information and application LINK.

Learn To Dream Scholarship – Seniors

Application must be made prior to graduation in May 2017.

Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) and Southeast Community College (SCC) have entered a partnership with Union Bank & Trust and Nelnet to offer a needs-based scholarship for students to attend Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Lincoln, or Milford. This scholarship, funded by Union Bank and Nelnet, pays tuition and fees for up to 45 quarter credits.  Students who are eligible for the Federal School Lunch Program are eligible to apply.

 

Chasers Charities – Robinson Athletic Scholarship Program – Seniors

Deadline:  March 24, 2017

This $500 scholarship honors Jackie Robinson.  It will be awarded to an African-American male or female who participates in high school athletics.  Successful applicants must demonstrate:

  • Athletic Achievement – minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Scholarship in the classroom

  • Motivation

LIBA (Lincoln Independent Business Association) Scholarship – Seniors

Deadline:  March 31, 2017

Thirteen (13) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to local seniors in 2017. Eight of the scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and five are designated for dependents of LIBA Member business owners & employees; or high school seniors employed by a LIBA member. Nebraska Insurance Federation and Nebraska Actuaries Club Scholarships – Seniors

Deadline: March 31, 2017

Seniors planning to major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics with an interest in pursuing an actuarial career are encouraged to apply.  Two $4,000 scholarships for students attending any of the three UNL campuses.  One $2,000 scholarship for students attending any college or university in the state of Nebraska.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to high school seniors or college students who are legal residents of the United States
  • Scholarship payable to the winner who should be living in the United States
  • Student must enroll in semester beginning no later than September 30, 2017

  • Home-schooled students may apply so long as your course of study is equivalent to a high school senior

CHADRON STATE COOPERATING SCHOOL Scholarship

Deadline: Must be turned into the Counseling Center by April 7, 2017

Criteria:

  •         Graduating senior in top half of class
  •         First preference to students majoring in education, and second          preference to any student based on any major
  • Applicant must attend Chadron State College beginning Fall 2017

Amount: One-half tuition for eight semesters up to 16 credit hours

Selection: This scholarship will be awarded to three (3) Lincoln Public Schools seniors from applications received at all six public high schools.

 

 

Butherus, Maser & Love Scholarship – Seniors

Deadline:  April 7, 2017

This scholarship provides a $300 award in 2017 to a graduating senior.  Criteria include:

  • Ranks in top half of his/her class
  • Demonstrates qualities of citizenship, leadership and civic responsibility
  • Participates actively in extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrates financial need and appreciation of financial assistance

Pound Middle School PTO Scholarship – Seniors

Deadline:  April 14, 2017

Requirements:

  1. Eligible applicants include college-bound seniors who attended Pound Middle School for three years, and are graduating from a Lincoln Public Schools high school.
  2. The minimum 300-word essay should be typed, double-spaced, in a 12-point font (Times, Courier, Calibri, etc.), saved as a PDF file, for submission via email, or postmarked, no later than Friday, April 14, 2017.

STAR Scholarship (LEA Foundation) – Seniors

This $1,000 scholarship is available to a senior LPS student whose parent is an LEA member, and can be used at an accredited Nebraska educational institution.

Kids’ Chance of Nebraska Scholarship – Seniors

Deadline: April 15, 2017

Two $5,000 scholarships to Nebraska students! Applicants must have at least one custodial parent, step-parent or legal guardian who has been killed or sustained injuries that have had a significant adverse effect on family income in a work-related accident that has been documented and accepted as compensable or found to be compensable by the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court.

The James M. Cox Foundation – Seniors

Deadline:  April 17, 2017

Mr. Cox was from Hampton, Nebraska, went to UNL, and graduated during the Great Depression.  He served in WWII with distinction, and became the deputy director of the U.S. Small Business Administration in Omaha.  He was dedicated throughout his life to helping needy children.

This $1000 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of need, so will require a copy of your “SAR” from the FAFSA, two letters of recommendation, and an essay.

Consumer Credit Scholarship

Applications Deadline:  April 30th

Credit Professionals International plans to present one (1) scholarship of $500 to high school seniors.  Also, the Lincoln Credit Association will be awarding three (3) scholarships-$250.00, $150.00, $100.00-all from one application.

This nonrenewable scholarship can be used at any two-year or four-year accredited college in the United States.  Please make this scholarship known to all qualified senior students.  The deadline for receiving applications is April 30, 2017.

2017 JIM HURLBERT MEMORIAL BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP – Seniors

Up to four scholarships not to exceed $500.00 each will be awarded, as funds are available. At least one scholarship will be awarded from each of the four American Legion Department Membership Areas, as funds are available. Only one candidate will be allowed from each Senior American Legion Baseball Team. Scholarships are awarded for one year only and are nonrenewable. 2.
