You should be winding up your News Package assignment. Finished videos are due Wednesday at the end of class. Be sure to export the video file to your Photos Master folder on the server. Title it: NewsPackageFinal.Name.
Double and Triple check your News Package Rubric/Checklist to make sure you have all of the required elements for the video. You will need to fill this out and turn it in when you are finished.
Remember that there should be voiceover audio or sound bites throughout the entire video (no long moments of silence).
I would like you to download the folder titledNewsPackagePracticeClips that’s in the Class Read-Only folder on the server. Drag that to your desktop at the beginning of class so it has time to load while we look at a tutorial video.
Today we’re going to watch a tutorial for using iMovie. It is very basic, but it’s a good way to start and to get familiar with the tools and functions. There is also a link to a more advanced tutorial that shows more tips and tricks once you have the basics down.
On Tuesday (no school on Monday), we’ll take some more class time to shoot more video for your News Package assignment. If you need the cameras at other times of the day, be sure to let me know ahead of time so I can make sure it’s ready for you.
Now that the practice clips are on your desktop, I’d like you to use them to create a practice news package using iMovie. I mainly want to see that understand how to do some basic editing:
First: Connect to the server – and click on the 2668 folder and select the Class Read Only folder.
Click on the folder titled: NewsPackagePracticeClips and drag it to your desktop to place a copy there.
When that is done downloading, launch iMovie from your Applications folder.
Create a New Project. (File – New Movie) Name it: iMoviePractice.YOUR NAME
Import the clips and put them together into a short video following the steps outlined in the tutorial we’re going to watch today. Here is the link for reference: https://live.myvrspot.com/iframe?v=fNThiNmQ0NWI3Nzk1MmJmZDM2ZGY4M2EyNzAyZTBlZTU
Your video should include:
1. an Establishing shot
2. Sound bites
3. Wide shots
4. Close ups
5. Audio (Reporter’s Track)
7. Titles and Transitions
I have a sub this morning, but I’m still in the building (working on Yearbook things). If you are signed up to take Spring Sports today, I will be here after school to get you a camera.
Today I’d like you to finish up formatting, cropping, captioning and exporting their Feature Photos. These are due at the end of the period TODAY.
Remember to CHECK YOUR CAPTIONS for correct formatting and information. Please stress that they can NOT resubmit these, so make sure they are correct.
If your are finished, you should work on your Spring Sports Photos.
Tomorrow we will discuss the next assignment, the Video News Package.
Today you should be working on formatting and captioning your Feature Photos.
Choose your 10 best photos for the gallery.
Crop to improve Composition.
Remember to make sure your Captions are in the correct form and have all of the required information in the correct style.
You will not be able to resubmit this assignment, so make sure everything is correct and working before the due date.
This assignment is Due on Thursday. Remember that we don’t have class tomorrow, due to ACT testing all day.
Our next assignment will be a video project. Be thinking about a topic that you might be interested in covering for this assignment. You will be using the cameras to film video and audio, and putting them together into a two-minute News Package. We’ll talk more about this assignment later in the week, but start thinking of a topic now. Make it something you are interested in.
