Good morning/afternoon! Happy Monday.
Today you should be working on the Final Draft of your Storytelling Speeches. These are DUE TOMORROW. Be sure to TIME your speech to make sure it’s long enough (3-4 minutes).
You should also work on your Note Cards. Remember that you don’t want to write every word down on the cards. Include words and phrases to help you remember what comes next. You should practice enough that you know the information and what you will say, so that you don’t have to look at your paper.
We will also draw numbers for speaking slots today. If you would like to volunteer to go first, you may, otherwise you will draw a number, and that will be the order of speakers.
BE AWARE: Everyone should be ready to present on Thursday. We will begin with #1 and go down the list. If you are near the end, you still may give your speech on the first day if people are absent. And remember that you MUST attempt your speech on the day that you are scheduled. You may redo your speech if you want a higher grade, but ONLY if you attempt the speech when it’s due. If you do not attempt your speech at that time, you will get a zero, and you won’t be able to make it up.
Speeches begin on Thursday, Sept. 13th. You will have time on Wednesday to practice. Be sure you have your note cards ready on Thursday. We will begin as soon as class starts. You will not have time to work on speeches once we have begun.
