Seth Barnes started teaching at Lincoln High in 2014. He graduated from UNL and currently teaches Geometry, Advanced Algebra and Diff Advanced Algebra. Seth sponsors Leadership Development Club and Cribbage Club.
Mr. Barnes is available to help students every morning at 7:00am and after school everyday except on Tuesday. Students an sign up for help in Mr. Barnes’ room.
Jacob Cathey started teaching at Lincoln High in 2015. After attending Western Oregon University and graduating from Doane College, Jacob taught at Lefler Middle School. He currently teaches Algebra Semester 1, Algebra Block, and Pre Calculus. Mr. Cathey will be getting married on November 12, 2016!
Mr. Cathey is available to help students every morning from 7:15-7:45 and everyday after school from 3:05-4:00, except Tuesdays.
Nick Clayburn is in his first year of teaching. He graduated from UNL and is excited to begin his teaching career at Lincoln High. Mr. Clayburn teaches Advanced Algebra and Geometry.
Mr. Clayburn is available to help students after school every day except Tuesday.
Lenny Gish has been teaching at Lincoln High since 1997. He graduated from UNL with both his B.S. and MAT. Lenny currently teaches Pre-College Math and Algebra.
Mr. Gish is available to help students after school every day except Tuesday.
Maureen Halpenny is starting her first year at Lincoln High School. She received both an EdM and BS from Boston University and has taught in Massachusetts and various schools in Lincoln. Ms. Halpenny teaches Geometry and IB Math Studies.
Ms. Halpenny is available before and after school by appointment.
Micah Heibel started teaching at Lincoln High in 1988 and he also taught 3 years at North Star. He received his bachelor’s degree from UNL. Micah currently teaches Geometry and Math SL.
Mr. Heibel is available before and after school for extra help.
Alice Hillhouse has taught at Lincoln High since 1989. She received her B.A. in math from Union College and her MA from UNL in Curriculum and Instruction. Alice also has her ELL K-12 endorsement. She currently teaches Pre-Calculus, Algebra, and Algebra Block.

Amy Hung is starting her first year of teaching. She graduated from Doane University and is excited to begin her teaching career at Lincoln High. Ms. Hung teaches Algebra, Algebra Block, and Advanced Algebra Differentiated. She lives in Lincoln with her pet tortoise, Kiwi.
Ms. Hung is available before and after school to help students.
Pat Janike began teaching mathematics in 2001. In the past he has taught at Southeast High School and at Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok, Thailand. He began teaching at Lincoln High in 2006. Also, in the past five years he has taught classes at UNL for the Math in the Middle and Nebraska Algebra programs as a Noyce Master Teaching Fellow.
Pat graduated from Lincoln High and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from UNL. He earned a M.A. in Secondary Teaching and is currently pursuing a EdD in Mathematics Education at UNL. In 2015, Pat earned his National Board certification. In 2008 he also received the State Farm Outstanding Educator Award.
Currently, Pat teaches Geometry and IB Mathematics – Higher Level. He is also the coach of the Lincoln High math team. Mr. Janike is available to help students before school, after school, and during B lunch.
Corey Jones is starting his first year of teaching. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and is excited to begin his teaching career at Lincoln High. Mr. Jones is teaching Advanced Algebra and Algebra S2.
Mr. Jones is coaching football for Lincoln High and has limited availability in the fall, but is available to help students by appointment.
David Juiliano is starting his first year at Lincoln High School. He earned his Undergraduate Degree from Caremont McKenna College and his Masters Degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mr. Juiliano is teaching AP Calculus, Advanced Algebra and Geometry Block.

Lucy Kneifl started teaching at Lincoln High in 2015. She currently teaches Advanced Algebra and Accelerated Math. Lucy graduated from UNL last spring.
Ms. Kneifl is available most days before school and after school, except on Tuesdays.
Doug Matulka is starting his first year at Lincoln High School. He graduated from UNL with his Masters Degree last summer. Mr. Matulka is teaching Geometry, Geometry Block, and Advanced Algebra Support. He enjoys playing ultimate frisbee competitively.
Mr. Matulka is available to help students after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 4:30.
Jeff Meyer – Math Coach
Jeff taught at Plattsmouth High before teaching at Lincoln High in 2014. He received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and his masters in teaching mathematics from UNL. Jeff currently teaches Diff Geometry and Advanced Algebra Support. He also sponsors chess club.
Mr. Meyer is available every morning at 7:15am and after school until 3:45, except Tuesdays.
Charlot Schlake has taught at Lincoln High for fourteen years. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan, Portland State, and UNL. Mrs. Schlake teaches Pre Calculus Differentiated, Algebra Block, and Algebra.

Amber Vlasnik – Math Instructional Coach and Interventionist
Amber Vlasnik started teaching at Lincoln High in 2011. Previously, she taught at Lincoln Southeast and Albright Middle School in Houston, Texas.
Amber graduated from UNK in 2008 with a BS in Math and History Education. She then completed her Masters Degree through UNL in 2012. Amber is currently pursuing a PhD from UNL and is a Noyce Master Teaching Fellow. In 2015, Amber was honored as a State finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching and as the recipient of the Miss Myrtle Clark Outstanding Mathematics Award. She enjoys helping students to discover the beauty of mathematics.
Amber lives in Lincoln with her husband, Joel, her daughter, Avery, and her son, Jaxon.
Mrs. Vlasnik is available to help students after school until 4:00 everyday except Tuesdays.
Shannon Wiig started teaching at Lincoln High in 2010 and is currently teaching Algebra Block and Geometry. She attended SCC and then transferred to UNL. Shannon received her bachelor’s degree in 2009 and her master’s in 2014 from UNL. She previously taught in Houston, TX at Killough Middle School.
Mrs. Wiig is available to help students Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until 4:15.
