2019 Cornhusker Girls & Boys State

IMPORTANT!  Applications are due Friday, January 25, 2019 to Ms. Barnes in the Counseling Center.
Please disregard the dates on the paperwork, they refer to when materials need to be returned to the Auxiliaries, not when the student needs to return the paperwork.

Cornhusker Girls State Information and application process:

The 2019 session of Cornhusker Girls State, sponsored by the Nebraska American Legion Auxiliary, will be held June 2-8, 2019 on the City Campus of the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Lincoln would like to send at least twenty (20) delegates.  Enclosed are the letter of explanation, Declaration of Interest form, Girls State Application form and Pledge form.  Please share this information with all interested girls in the Junior class.  You may make additional copies as needed.  Please pass this information to the person in your school that will work with the students interested in the Girls State program. 

Girls State delegates will register between 12 noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 and will be dismissed following graduation and checkout on Saturday, June 9. Delegates will not be excused from any part of the Girls State Session in order to participate in other activity during the week or to take the ACT.

Cornhusker Boys State Information and application process:

The 2019 session of “Cornhusker Boys’ State,” is a week-long learning activity in government, leadership, and citizenship. The purpose of this letter is to ask your assistance in promoting the program and notifying those young men in the Junior class about this opportunity to experience “government in action” through participation in this program.

Boys’ State will be held on the City Campus of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln June 2- 8, 2019. Attendees will be asked to arrive about noon on Sunday, June 2nd, and stay throughout the entire session, which will end about noon on Saturday, June 8th.
