Good morning.

We need to get going on our Feature Stories for the Print issue of the Advocate. Here are our deadline dates. These are not flexible, because we will go right up to the last minute here at the end of the semester.

Here is a link to the story list.

Feature Story – Print – Deadlines

Transcription:Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 2-4

Layout:
Begin Layout: Tuesday, Dec. 10th
Final Layout Due: Thursday, Dec. 19th – Final Exam Day

Finishing the print layout will be your final exam. Our exam is on Thursday, Dec. 19th from 8:45 – 10:15 . You will each have a two-page spread to fill with your story and a photo. We will print the issue over break, and it should be ready to distribute when we return on Jan. 7th.

We will also need to design the cover, so be thinking of ideas.

You should all have a topic/subject selected now, and you should be filling out the Advocate Outline and the Advocate Copy Template that are in Classroom. Be sure you Make a Copy of each of them and rename them (be sure to leave your name in the file name). Example: John – Feature Story

Also be sure that you ADD the documents to your Classroom folder so I can have access to it.

First, we’ll start gathering information and finding sources for your News Stories. Fill out as much of your outline as possible, and then start contacting sources.

For the Feature Story we’ll start gathering information and scheduling interviews. When you tell me who your subject is for the Feature Story, I’ll look up their schedule so you can set up a time to interview them.

Here is a link to a list of possible questions to ask your sources. You don’t need to use these exact questions, but you can if you need some help getting started.
