First Day of School: Wednesday, August 12th

We will see you back at school on Wednesday, August 12th

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

The sale flyers are begging to remind us about school supplies. The Lincoln Public Schools provides all necessary supplies and equipment for student use in the instructional program. If students wish to provide some of their own supplies, here are some suggestions: pencils and erasers, blue/black pens, colored pencils, glue stick, zipper pencil bag, simple non-expensive calculator, pocket folders (one per class), three-ring binder with paper and 2-4 spiral notebooks. Please note: sharpies and other permanent markers are not allowed at Lefler.

If you enjoy shopping for school supplies, and would like to make a donation to your child’s classroom, this list provides suggestions. Items donated will be shared with all students at each grade level. Thank you!

DONATIONS APPRECIATED

Every year we run short of tissues and #2 pencils. If you are willing to donate a box of either of these items, please bring it to the office at any time. Thank you!

DRESS CODE

Lefler has an updated dress code which is outlined in the student handbook (p. 6). Please be sure to read this section carefully. NOTE: spaghetti strap tops/tank tops/short shorts (less than a 3 in inseam) are not allowed and undergarments (including straps and boxers) should not be visible.

GRADING

Last year LPS started using a uniform system for calculating grades in all subject areas in middle school and high school. This includes 80% of the student’s grade based on summative assessments and 20% based on formative work.  This will continue for the 2015-16 school year.

IMMUNIZATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Parents need to provide a student immunization record in order to enroll in school. The requirements and approved waiver form are listed on the Health Services website, which has lots of other health-related information.  Still have a question? Call our Health Services team at 402-436-1000.

FREE/REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS/LUNCH MONEY/MENUS

Lunch prices will stay the same this year, however, there are some changes. Free and reduced applications are not renewable, so you must fill it out again. Start here – http://www.lps.org/post/index.cfm?collection=29. You can find a lot of information about menus, paying online, and nutrition information for meals. Also, you can get daily meal announcements on Twitter at @LPSMenus and Facebook.
