Lakeview Parents:
Starting immediately after break on January 9th, we will be implementing new arrival and dismissal procedures. There are a few reasons for the new procedures. First of all, the last phase of our renovation will be complete and we will have accessibility to entrances and hallways that have been unavailable until now. Secondly, we want to create a calmer start to our school day. Presently, K-3rd graders meet in the multipurpose room before the 8:55 bell and 4th and 5th graders who eat breakfast also start here. As our enrollment continues to increase, this makes our multipurpose room very crowded and difficult for our breakfast eaters. As a result, many of our breakfast eaters are tardy to their classrooms.
Our new plan will be as follows:
ARRIVAL
- Students arriving on busses
o Bus # 9207 (Blue) & Bus #1088 (Red) will drop off students in the cut out on Capitol Beach Blvd. Morning bus riders will then enter door #3 and proceed into the multipurpose room if they eat breakfast or if they do not eat breakfast they will go to the gym and wait in their assigned area for the bell to ring.
o Bus # 9694 will drop off students in the cut out on West Q Street, by our new front door. Students will enter the building through door #1 and proceed to the multipurpose room if they eat breakfast or if they do not eat breakfast they will go to the gym and wait in their assigned area for the bell to ring.
- All other students
o Students eating breakfast: We ask that students who will be eating breakfast arrive at 8:40. They may enter through our new front door (#1) on the south side of the building, or through door numbers #17 (southeast corner of the building) and #16 (east side of the building next to our parking lot).
o Students NOT eating breakfast: We ask that students who are not eating breakfast arrive no earlier than 8:50. They may enter the building through either doors #1, #17, or #16.
New Breakfast Procedure
- Starting Monday, January 9th, only students eating breakfast will be allowed into the multipurpose room (cafeteria). All other students will need to go to their assigned areas in the gym.
- Breakfast will be served in the multipurpose room (cafeteria) from 8:40 to 8:50. Any student eating breakfast that arrives later than 8:50 will go through the breakfast line in the multipurpose room, pick up a sack breakfast, and proceed to their assigned area in the gym. They will wait with their class until their teacher picks them up and then eat their breakfast in their classroom.
- Students eating in the multipurpose room will be expected to finish their breakfast by the first bell at 8:55 and walk with their teacher to their classrooms for the start of the day.
- Any student who comes to school after 9:00 that eats breakfast will also pick up a sack breakfast and eat in their classroom.
Students Arriving Late
- At 9:00 am all doors to the building will be locked except our front door (#1). All students arriving after 9:00 will be directed to the office to get a tardy pass for their teacher. If they are eating breakfast, they will go to the multipurpose room to get a sack breakfast to take to their classroom.
- All students are expected to be in their classrooms or with their teacher by 9:00.
DISMISSAL
- Students riding busses home
o Bus #9207 (Blue) & Bus #1088 (Red) will load students outside of doors #3 and #4. Students will wait for the bus either inside or outside of door #3 and #4, depending on the weather.
o Bus #9522 will load students on the south side of the building by door #1. Students will wait for the bus either inside or outside of door #1.
- All other students will be dismissed through the following doors:
o Students walking will dismiss from the parking lot side of the school. Older students will be expected to pick up younger students with their teacher. This is similar to previous years at Lakeview.
o Kindergarten – Door 16
o 1st Grade – Door 3
o 2nd Grade – Door 13
o 3rd Grade – Door 1
o 4th Grade – Door 13
o 5th Grade – Door 17
- Students being picked up:
o We will continue the same procedure for students being picked up by parents in the staff parking lot. Starting January 9th, we anticipate a quicker and more efficient pick up process. This will be due to the fact that students will be able to line up on the west side of the parking lot allowing more cars to be loaded at one time.
CLC
- Students arriving for before-school CLC need to enter door #16. Parents picking up students from after-school CLC should also use door #16.
