Classroom Expectations

Accountability

1. What is our policy regarding

2. How do we intend to

            a. post assignments

                        An area in the classroom, on handout,  and Homework Website.

3. Academic Excellence

            a. Objectives (Purpose of Learning) will be written on the front board.

            b. Teacher will explain the assignment requirements.

            c. Students will have to write their assignments in the planner of their

                choice.

            d. Students will have review days to prepare them for tests.

            e. To help them in their learning, students will come to class each day, with

                their personal notebook, pen or pencil, and the day’s assignment

                completed.

            f. Students will use Word Webs, Task Effort Rubric, Graphic Organizers,

               etc. to help them learn.

            g. To prepare for CSA assessment, students will use class time to review

                materials.

            h. During class instruction, reviews, and testing (formative and summative)

               students will use the brain stimulator clothesline  to help to be successful.

            i. Parents and students will be given reports on how well the students are

               learning.

            j. So learning can happen, ALL assignments must be completed.

 

  Rules and Procedures

1. Beginning class

            a. Tardy students

                        All students MUST be in their assigned seat and ready for the day’s

                         lesson by the  time the tardy bell rings.

                        Students who are tardy will go through the Goodrich Middle School

tardy policy procedures.

 

                        STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR PERSONAL NOTEBOOK, A

                        PENCIL OR PEN AND THEIR COMPLETED HOMEWORK

                       ASSIGNMENT (S).

2. Instructional Activities

            a. Student movement in the classroom

                        Ask permission to sharpen your pencil.

                        Throw trash in the classroom trashcan.

                        Clean up area at the end of the period.

                        Return all books and materials to their proper place.

                        When getting out of your seat, always push in your chair.

                        Stay in your assigned seat and at your table during instruction time.

                        Move quickly to activity areas when instructed.

            b. Student movement in and out of the classroom.

                          Passes to the restroom, your locker, or water fountain can only be

used  during non-instruction times.

                        All students leaving the room with a pass must sign out and in.

                        WRITTTEN PASSES ARE REQUIRED WHEN LEAVING THE

                        ROOM.

                        Passes to counselor / administrator must follow the office policy.

            c. What do students do when work is done?

                        Quietly do personal reading, homework, or makeup work.

            d. Last five (5) minutes.

                        Will be used for formal assessment.

3. Ending the class

            a. Dismissing class

                        All students should be in their chairs.

                        Teacher will dismiss the class, not the bell.

                        When leaving, students MUST push in their chair.

4. BIST Procedures

            a. Follow first day guidelines.

            b. Sit in the “Safe Seat” area.

            c. Materials will be by the Safe Seat.

            d. Rules for the Safe Seat are posted by the table.

            e. Our team members will be used as “Buddy Seats”.

            f. Teacher will call for escort when needed.

            g. Student must talk to teacher, after class, to set up a time to process.

            h. If the class needs to be evacuated, we will go to the media center or the

                cafeteria.

            i. We will use the school’s documentation system.

            j. We will follow first day procedures.

            k. BIST pamphlet will be in the sub folder.

            l. When processing, we will use the “I can be……” processing questions.

                        (Questions based on life goal that needs improvement.)

5. Other procedures

            a. Student contact with teacher’s desk, chair, computer, and storage.

                        Students are NOT to be in contact with these areas without

            permission.

            b. Fire and Tornado Drills.

                        Become familiar with each room’s procedures

            c. Lunch procedures

                        Become familiar with the posted procedures.

            d. Class Schedule

                        Become familiar with the posted period schedule.

            e. Your personal responsibility.

                        Improve your skills, abilities, knowledge, and life goals.
