Human Behavior

Course Description:

This course is designed to help students learn to manage issues in everyday living and offers a catalyst for personal growth.

Text(s):  Becoming Aware.  Curriculum: worksheets, notes, graphic organizers, group work, movies/clips, mostly in class work, some homework given.

This course meets the LPS-CTE Human Services graduation requirement.

 

Units of Study:

Standard 1  Students will understand, explore and apply the characteristics of personal development.

  • Benchmark 1.1  Complete and process self-assessments.
  • Benchmark 1.2  Explore qualities of responsible behavior.
  • Benchmark 1.3  Evaluate the effects of diverse perspectives, needs, and characteristics of individuals and families.
  • Benchmark 1.4  Identify elements of communication styles.

Standard 2  Students will understand the importance of relationships.

  • Benchmark 2.1  Identify the characteristics that are part of healthy and unhealthy relationships.
  • Benchmark 2.2  Examine teamwork in the relationship process.
  • Benchmark 2.3  Learn proper networking skills in the family and in the workplace.

Standard 3  Students will determine appropriate self-management strategies.

  • Benchmark 3.1  Recognize self-management issues.
  • Benchmark 3.2  Identify coping/managing strategies.
  • Benchmark 3.3  Apply strategies to resolve self-management issues.

Standard 4  Students will identify and apply employability skills.  (covered in Take Charge class)

Everyone in this class will succeed, my goal for you is that you learn what Human Behavior is, you have fun learning the subject, and that you become a better person because of it.  This class is a Graduation Requirement!
