Dear Kloefkorn Families,
If you feel you don’t get much information from your child when you ask “How was school
today?” I’ve listed a few questions that you might like to try.
- What is the coolest thing that happened at school today?
- Pretend you are the teacher, How would you describe the day?
- What made you laugh today?
- How were you kind or helpful today?
- How was someone kind or helpful to you today?
- Can you tell me something you learned that you’d like to know more about?
As we continue to work to keep a steady traffic flow in the morning as students are dropped off
at school, please have your child ready to hop out of your vehicle when you pull up to the curb.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, February 20th and Thursday February 22nd from 3:30-7:00 PM. Each conference will be 15 minutes long for classroom and resource teachers and 10 minutes for specialists. Parents are asked to sign up online using the link below. Sign up will close tonight, February 9th at 11:59 PM. We ask that you do not sign up with back-to-back appointments to allow travel time from one conference to the next. If you have any questions you may feel free to call the office at 402-436-1148 or email Christy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Directions for how to sign up can be found below. If at anytime you need to reference this information again you can find it on our website or our Facebook page.
Note: Pre-K families will not use pick-a-time to sign up for conferences. Mrs. Allison will be in contact with families to set those up separately.

The Department of Early Childhood will begin accepting preschool applications for the 2018-19 school year. You will find information about the application process at http://home.lps.org/earlychildhood/programs/preschool/. Applications will be available at the Department of Early Childhood Office, located at 300 S. 48th Street. Their office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition they will have extended hours on:
Saturday, February 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, February 15th from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
*Families need to bring children to the Office of Early Childhood at the time of application.
*Please note that this enrollment period is for new families to the LPS Early Childhood Education program. Returning preschool students will fill out paperwork with Miss Allison during a Home Visit at a later date.*

Kindergarten packets were sent out on Monday, February 5th. These packets have forms needed for Kindergarten Registration. You should receive one in the mail soon. If for some reason you do not and need one we will have extras in the office.
Registration will be on March 7th from 8:00AM-6:00PM and March 8th from 8:00AM-4:30PM.
Parent Teacher Conferences Meal Sign Up
We are looking for volunteers to provide food and paperware for the days of parent/teacher conferences on Feb 20th and 22nd, 2018. We are looking for a combination of entrees, salads, and desserts. This year we will provide Sloppy Joes the first night and purchased sandwich trays the next night. These meals can be dropped off at Kloefkorn office of the day you sign up for by 3:30pm. Please label and pick up any kitchenware/crockpots/dishes you bring in. We greatly appreciate any meals you can provide to support our wonderful teachers and staff at Kloefkorn!
Kloefkorn Dine Outs – Update

Kloefkorn Board – We need your help!
In March we have our PTO Board elections and we are trying to plan ahead and recruit folks for next year’s board and committees. Our PTO has multiple positions open, if you are interested and have questions, please reach out to one of our board members and ask away. Or you can just submit your bio on our website. The Yearbook Committee is excited to announce that it is time to order our 2017-2018 Yearbooks! This year we have two ways for you to order.
ONLINE ORDERING. Orders may be submitted online through March 9, 2018 by using this link https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectJob and entering our school code 11701518.
SCHOOL SUBMISSION. If you are unable to order online, please submit a check payable to “Kloefkorn PTO” to the Kloefkorn office. Write your student’s names in the memo line on the check, along with the completed bottom portion of the flier.
No late orders will be accepted. Friday, March 9, 2018 is the absolute last day to place an order for this year’s book. We will not be ordering extra copies, so please get your order’s in early!

Kloefkorn Olympics at the Copple YMCA – Save the Date March 3rd
Our PTO is partnering with the Copple Y and their Strong Kids Campaign on Saturday March 3. The Y is donating the use of their facility for us. It will be open from 7-10 pm for Kloefkorn families only, and we’ll be able to use the pool, gym, everything but the weight deck. We’ll have snacks for sale and the winning Kloefkorn Olympic team gets a special treat with Mr. Schmeeckle!
Kloefkorn Science Fair
The Kloefkorn Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, February 27th from 5:30pm-6:30pm and is open to all Kloefkorn students. Please go to kloefkornpto.org/science-fair to register. When you register be sure to to fill out an entry for each student and include if power is needed for a project. Set up will be Monday, February 26th from 4:30-6:30pm. Please take projects home after the fair.
Box Top Update
Kloefkorn Families we LOVE when we get GIANT bags of Box Tops! We also love when we get a large bag with ONE carefully placed Box Top.
We can imagine a child finding the Box Top and quickly bringing it to school, knowing they are making a BIG difference.
THANKS for all the Box Tops you’ve sent in! Can you send in 10 more next week? In Week 5, we’ve already collected more than 3,800 Box Tops!!!
