Welcome to Kahoa

Mandy Nickolite-Greene,
Principal

Welcome to the Kahoa Elementary School, home of the Kahoa Cougars! Kahoa opened its doors in the Fall of 1972 and is named in honor of longtime Lincoln educator, Mrs. Evelyn Kahoa. Our students, staff, and families were excited to return to our newly renovated building for the 2010-2011 school year.

Mrs. Evelyn Kahoa joined Lincoln Public Schools in 1931 as a teacher at Longfellow and then Sheridan Elementary. In 1942, she went to Norwood Park as assistant principal and moved to principal in 1946. In 1949, Mrs. Kahoa became principal of both Bethany and Riley at the same time. This arrangement lasted until 1954 when her focus was narrowed to Bethany only. Mrs. Kahoa retired from Bethany in 1971. This year we will be celebrating Kahoa’s 50th Anniversary!

Kahoa Elementary serves approximately 500 students in our kindergarten through fifth grade program. Our mission at Kahoa Elementary is, “”Fostering Academic Excellence and Wellness for All Students in a Safe and Caring Environment”. Our staff is committed to the success of each individual student and believes in the power of education and lifelong learning.

We value the partnership between families, community, and our school. Families know their children best and our partnership is valuable in helping us to support the unique needs of students. We are fortunate to have an active and supportive PTO. Our PTO works in collaboration with students, families, staff, and the Lincoln community to enrich curricular and extracurricular experiences for all Kahoa students that otherwise would not exist. The PTO allows parents multiple opportunities to become involved in different activities that support our students and school.

It is a great honor and privilege for me to be a part of the Kahoa community. I look forward to working alongside the wonderful Kahoa staff, students, and families. At Kahoa we take very seriously the responsibility of providing a safe, caring environment where all students are provided the highest quality education.

We hope you will take some time to explore our website to learn more about the opportunities that exist at Kahoa. We invite you to become an active, positive, and collaborative partner in the Kahoa School Community.

Sincerely,
Mandy Nickolite-Greene, Principal
