Safety and Sanitation Unite – Objective: To learn and practice proper safety and sanitation practices in the kitchens.

Sewing Unit: To be able to identify equipment, recognize terms and provide appropriate procedures for sewing, textile, clothing and design skills.

  • Sewing Functions- stitch on paper and stitch fabric sample will be done in class – see Ms Schlemmer for a make-up time

Measuring Unit -Objective: Be able to identify appropriate abbreviations, food-measurement terminology, techniques, equivalents, and calculate recipe-size adjustments and demonstrate proper measuring techniques.

No-Bake Cookie Recipe:
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
Waxed paper
Directions
In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened.

Interior Design Unit: Objective- To learn the basic elements and principles of design and be able to creatively apply it using the language and terminology.

Eggs Unit:  Objective – To be able to identify the parts of an eggs, understand the nutrients and their function in the body and practice egg cookery.

Child Development Unit: Objective – To learn the physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of children.

Culinary Skills Unit – To be able to compare and contrast the similarities an differences of quick breads and yeast breads.

 Pizza Recipe:

  • 1 pkt Yeast
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 C. water
  • 2-3 C. Flour
  1. Activate yeast with sugar and water
  2. Let stand 5 minutes
  3. Add flour slowly until shiny and smooth – Knead
  4. Let rise 2 hours
  • 1 C. Pizza Sauce
  • 1 C.  Cheese
  • Additional topping as desired

Bake crust at 425 degrees – 5-10 minutes
Add sauce and toppings
Bake again 20 minutes or until cheese bubble and crust is brown
Let stand 5 minutes before serving and eating
