Hi Parents! Sorry for the delay in getting this site up and running. I actually had another site set up but came across some hiccups as I was trying to release it so I decided to make a brand new one!

We now have 6 days of second grade under our belt. I can’t believe it’s already six days into the school year! I am loving our little group of kiddos. All are so bright, kind and fun! I look forward to getting to know them even better as the year goes on.

TAPS and Buckles: Have you heard your child talk about TAPS and Buckles? If not, ask them about it. TAPS stands for Total And Perfect Silence. Buckles means to buckle (fold) your hands in the hallways. The entire school is using this procedure for hallway expectations and it’s working really well!

Bathroom Breaks: I have had a few parents express concerns about restroom use, worried that their child needs to go when he/she needs to go. I have three little kiddos myself, and I am well aware of their sometimes frequent restroom use. However, one of our goals at school is to teach your child personal responsibility and time management. In this post you will see an image our typical daily schedule. Next to each subject or time, you see a green or red dot. The green dots mean it is an acceptable time for your child to ask to use the restroom. The red dots mean, unless it’s an emergency, please wait for the next green dot. There are many opportunities for the children to use the restroom. I have been talking with them about using the restroom at home before school as well as at the Rec Center before they come to class. Please take a moment to visit with your child about this as well. It helps if we are all on board. Again, I want to assure you that I am not being mean and refusing to let your child use the restroom when he/she obviously needs to go… but I am working on teaching them to take responsibility for their own time and plan ahead. If you have any concerns with this plan, please contact me!
