Intro to Digital Design

NSBEA Membership Form 2017-18

Welcome to Intro to Digital Design

This course will introduce students to the technical tools and processes used in digital design.  Students will be introduced to the design process model which includes typography, color, and imagery.  In addition, design software will be utilized to create graphics, animation, web pages, and video.  Students will demonstrate proper use of fair use guidelines.  Career opportunities in digital design will be explored.

  • Assignment: Add the following to your LNE Newsletter assignment from last week:
    1. One graphic with text wrap  (around object shape – detect edges)
    2. One graphic with different corners (Object > Corner Options)
    3. One graphic with feathering (Object > Effects > Basic Feather)
    4. Add a border (stroke), drop shadow, and other effects to some of your graphics (Object > Effects >)
    5. A second page – your newsletter should be 2 pages in length and include AT MINIMUM 3 articles in addition to the above graphics. You may have to include more in order to fill your 2 pages if you include short articles (there should not be a lot of white space except for margins).

      • To get the URL, simply click on your animation from my website and it will open on a page by itself – copy the URL from this page and past it inside the “” above

  • Today we will continue our introduction to Adobe Photoshop. We will discover the various Selection Tools available in Photoshop.
    • Learning Targets: duplicate image/layers, move, size, zoom, adjustments, color, brushes, properties, text, gradients, psd vs. jpg, selection tools (marquees, lassos, quick selection, magic wand)
    • Assignment: finish  Rocket House Invite (use this Tutorial for help making brush)
    • Demo selection tools in Photoshop (beginning at 2:30 p.m.)
