FAFSA Changes

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application opens in December. When applying, families will use tax information from the prior year.

EducationQuest

EducationQuest helps students and parents file their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). There is no charge for any EducationQuest service.

An EducationQuest specialist will be at North Star every other Tuesday, beginning on October 31st. Students can click the button below to sign up for an appointment slot.

Appointments can also be made with the downtown EducationQuest office at 475-5222. Students need to bring all necessary Federal Tax copies and W-2’s, and other required items from the FAFSA checklist.

Seniors who seek to apply for the Buffett Scholarship must plan to complete their FAFSA well before the February 1st deadline.

Seniors planning on attending UNL, UNO or UNK are encouraged to call the counseling center or EducationQuest to set up an individual FAFSA appointment prior to April 1st to meet the priority FAFSA priority filing dates for those schools.

FAFSA priority filing dates for the following Nebraska schools:

UNL/UNO/UNK – April 1st
Chadron State – February 1st
Peru State –  March 1st
Wayne State – April 1st
SCC – July 1st
