Language and Culture

There are multiple resources available to support families, staff, and building communities as they work with the diverse populations represented in Lincoln Public Schools.

Bilingual Liaisons:  work in Federal Programs to support schools and staff on a daily basis and cultivate relationships between families and schools.  Often Bilingual Liaisons serve as cultural brokers to help us learn about our population’s diversity.

Bilingual Interpreters:  work on an individual and hourly basis with buildings as needed for translations, often times during parent/teacher conferences or SAT/MDT/IEP meetings.  Find it on the staff directory page or click the link found here!

Working with Interpreters:  It is important for staff to understand the roles of parent, teacher, and interpreter during meetings with families who speak a language other than English.  Please find these guidelines to help you through this process.
