– Valentine’s Day “Thank You” Campaign

Valentine’s Day is this month and in the spirit of offering gratitude – Lincoln Public Schools is taking a mid-winter break to send a thank you card to our community, sharing our appreciation for support of our public school district.

We are sharing the love in several ways:

  • Every community member will receive the LPS Annual Report in the mail over the next few weeks – including the complete LPS Strategic Plan.
  • Superintendent Steve Joel has issued his 15-minute video State of the Schools Report.
  • We are sharing an assortment of thank-you videos and photos – thanking the community for supporting LPS.

You can find the Annual Report, the State of the Schools video, and our thank you messages – at this link: https://lps.org/thankyou/

We thank you for investing in our students, our children, our future.

Thank you, Lincoln, for your support of Lincoln Public Schools.

Please join us on January 25th at Anderson Public Library for Huntington’s 1st School Night at our neighborhood public library.   Would love to see you and you family there!

– Mr. Devney Receives Doctorate

During our 2nd quarter awards assembly, Mr. Devney was recognized by students and teachers for receiving his doctorate from UNL recently.  Students presented him with a number of books that were signed by them to recognize his big accomplishment.  Mr. Devney’s wife and daughters joined us in the surprise.

-BRUCE ARANT visits Huntington

On December 19th Bruce Arant, author and illustrator, visited all students during our December day 0 activities.  Bruce is the author of “Simpson’s Sheep Won’t Go to Sleep” and “Simpson’s Sheep Just Want to Sleep”.  We’re lucky that Bruce lives in Omaha so he is a great local resource for us.  He taught students how to draw all kinds of facial expressions that they can use in their own artwork.  And, for the younger students, he walked them through the process of publishing a book.  This inspiration will hopefully inspire our students to draw and write themselves.  Thank’s Bruce.

– WE’LL BE WARM THIS WINTER

LINCOLN PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 644 COAT GIVEAWAY

Wow!  Earlier this month every single Huntington student eagerly received a new coat, hat, and gloves.  The local firefighters and many volunteers organized, set-up and gave each of our approx. 500 students their choice of new, warm garments.  And with our cold temps lately, we’re seeing a rainbow of students at recess and before and after school.  We all are very appreciative and want to shout out our THANKS to all involved.   THANK YOU!

– Sept. Day 0 – Makerspace Fun

This year, on PLC days, Huntington’s specialists team (Music, PE, Art, Computer Science & Library Media teachers) are planning fun collaborative events for all students during their regular specials time.  Last month we had a number of makerspaces for the students to explore.  A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials.   They had great fun building, playing giant checkers, deconstructing radios, calculators and radios, and much more.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As a Title I school, it is our goal to keep parents informed and involved in preparing our students academically. Each year, we hold an Annual Title I Meeting for parents to learn about Title I and how we administer funds in our building to provide supplemental academic and support resources for students. We also ask for parent input to inform our Parent Involvement Policy, and we share a School Compact form with parents and students to clarify the role that each of us plays in supporting the academic needs of our students. Finally, you also have the opportunity to request information about the professional qualifications of the teachers and paraprofessionals that work with your student(s). Our entire staff is working diligently to ensure that every child meets high academic standards in a safe and caring learning environment. I would like to encourage you to contact me for further information or to find out how you can become involved.

Sincerely,
