Bright Lights Summer Learning Adventures

Come and enjoy the power (and fun) of summer learning with Bright Lights! Summer 2013 Bright Lights classes will be held June 3-7, June 17-21, and July 8-12. LPS Summer Technology Program

The Lincoln Public Schools will be offering a Summer Technology Program to provide upper elementary and middle level students an opportunity to explore their interest in computers and technology. One week courses will be offered for students entering 5th through 9th grade in the fall of 2013. All classes will be held at the Information Technology Focus Program, 285 S. 68th Street Place, fourth floor. (Please note: high school graduation credit will not be granted for any of these courses open to 9th grade students).
Sessions are filled with fun, hands-on, age-appropriate computer activities using state of the art hardware and software.
Registration is underway now. Registration forms are available in elementary school computer labs or office, and on the web at http://wp.lps.org/stp. Registrations will be accepted beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd. The mailing address is: Information Technology Focus Program, 285 S. 68th Street Place, fourth floor. Registration forms may also be dropped off at the same address. Mayor’s Run Info

The 26th Annual Mayor’s Run will be taking place on Saturday, May 4th. Registration information was sent home last week with students. Registration must be completed on line this year at www.lincolnrun.org


Bike Rodeo – May 9th

We have set a date for our Humunn Bike Rodeo. The 23rd annual Humann Bike Rodeo is set for Thursday, May 9th at Humann from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The bike rodeo allows students to demonstrate their bike riding and safety skills. Pre-registration is not required. Students may just come that evening as they arrive with their bike and helmet for some fun and friendly competition. All riders must wear (or borrow) a helmet while participating. If riders are not able to supply their own, the Humann PTO will have some available to borrow. Anyone interested in helping time or score the events for students, may contact Brian Peters.


Skate Night – April 29

Our next Skate Night is set for April 29th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Please see the information on the following pages for details.


Food Bank Challenge

Congratulations Humann Families! Once again you have shown your caring support for others. We collected nearly 1,000 canned and boxed food items today for the Lincoln Food Bank! In fact, we have had to request additional barrels for next week. It is not too late to bringditienmatso.rWe will still collect them all next week! For those participating in the walk, T-Shirts should be coming soon. We look forward to seeing everyone who signed up for the walk next Saturday at East High.


Change of Date and Time for Theatre Works Performance

The Theatre Works production of “Fancy Nancy” has been changed to Wednesday, May 16th at 1:30pm. This event will be held in the gym.


Summer Technology Program

If you are a student entering grades 5 – 9 during the next school year and want to explore your interest in computers using state of the art hardware and software, then the Summer Technology Program is for you! Week long, half-day sessions are available in the following areas: Web Page Design, Lego Robotics, Animating with Scratch, Stop Motion Animation, Photoshop Basics, Clay Animation, 3D Modeling. and Green Screen Video Production. Sign up starts April 2 and courses fill up fast.
