Arrival and Dismissal Traffic Procedures — A Reminder

Two Lanes of Traffic and One-Way Traffic
We use two lanes of traffic on Rockwood Lane when dropping off and picking up students in the front of school. We ask parents to follow a one-way clockwise pattern around the school, and Cripple Creek Park as this helps the flow continue. It is not helpful to go against this flow
of traffic as the streets are narrow and this blocks the flow. One thing we have noticed at dismissal on the corner of Rockwood Lane and Fir Hollow is that some cars turning onto Rockwood are pulling into the second lane before cars are far enough up Rockwood and then
the street becomes blocked. This is important not to do so that Rockwood can still be accessed by other cars.

Dropping Off Students in Front of School
I try to be outside each morning at 8:45 to help observe and assist students at drop off. We continue to use two lanes on Rockwood and only allow students to get out on the passenger side on the inside lane. Please continue to pull up to the front as you are able and take turns pulling into the inside lane when cars are ready to exit. It is helpful to signal if you are on the inside lane and when you are ready to pull out. At drop off, it is ok to let students out on the passenger
side at any point along the sidewalk in front of the school. Traffic is slow at times as students are using the crosswalk in front of school so cars are waiting for the cross walk to clear before they can continue. You should not pull around the second lane onto Rockwood to proceed up the street. Please stay in the second lane and proceed up Rockwood as the traffic allows.

Picking up Students in Front of School
We provide supervision for dismissal of students being picked up directly in front of the school. Our procedure is that students only enter the car from the passenger side and only when a car is
in the inside lane. If you are in the second lane, please continue to pull up to the front of the school and you will be directed to pull in to have students enter the car. We do not load students
all the way down the front as this stops the flow. We allow students to load as you pull up to the line where students wait and beyond to the front. When you are directed to pull in, please drive as far to the front as you are able so we can load more cars at once. We ask that you do not get out of your car. We will help students get to your car if assistance is needed. Helping your child get buckled and ready quickly will assist the cars behind you who are waiting. We will direct
you to pull out when it is safe. You should not pull around the second lane of traffic while proceeding up Rockwood Lane. This is not safe and you may be ticketed. If you are having someone pick up your child who is not familiar with our procedure, please share with them our procedures so they can follow our expectations and ensure traffic continues to be safe.

As always, our number one goal as students arrive and dismiss is student safety. I appreciate your patience and courtesy to all as we try to have 600 plus students get to and from school each day safely.
