Coming up this week! {1/20-1/24}

We have a lot of fun learning to look forward to this week!

Literacy
We are going to start Unit 6 this week! This unit is entitled “Weather for all seasons.” Our essential question is “How are the seasons different?” We will be learning letters Bb and Ll this week. Our high-frequency words this week are is & little. Our vocabulary words are: weather, seasons, migrate, active, & spot. Our category words this week are seasons. Our grammar skill for the week is nouns with –s and -es. We are working on making quality work during our workstations. We are also working on not rushing through our work as well as not taking too long to do our work, but learning how to use our time effectively and complete work that we can be proud of.

Math
This week we will be finishing up Unit 3. We will be working on teen numbers and problem solving using shapes. There will be homework on Tuesday and Wednesday. (Also, the family letter that was supposed to come home on Friday will be coming home on Tuesday instead.) Our Unit 3 math test is coming up next week.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are continuing Quarter 3 writing! We will be learning about how the middle is the biggest part, how to reread our stories when we start each day, how to add details to our stories to make them more interesting, and how to add color words. We are becoming writers and it is so exciting to see!

Star of the Week…
We enjoyed learning about Logan this week. Logan’s favorite colors are red and black, his favorite animal is a lion, and he wants to be a ninja when he grows up. We will not have a Star of the Week this week due to the short week.

Don’t forget!
–No school on Monday!
–Library days this week are Tuesday and Friday.
–Our 100th Day Celebration will be on Monday, January 27th. We will be having a ton of fun celebrating this special milestone in Kindergarten!

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
