Coming up this week! {1/13-1/17}

We have a lot of fun learning to look forward to this week!

Literacy
We are going to finish Unit 5 this week! Our essential question is “What kind of things grow on a farm?” We are now going to be focusing on 2 letters and 2 HFW each week. This will definitely keep us busy during our independent workstation time. We are going to be working on giving our best effort to complete our work neatly and quickly. We will be learning letters Ff and Rr this week. Our high-frequency words this week are he & with. Our vocabulary words are: fresh, delicious, beneath, raise, special. Our category words this week are food words. Our grammar skill for the week is pronouns.

Math
This week we will be continuing Unit 3. We will be focusing on story problems, number partners, and teen numbers. There will be homework on Wednesday and a family letter on Friday. Your student will need help with their family letter as they are asked to find 20 small things (smaller than 1 inch) to create a teen number display.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are continuing Quarter 3 writing! We are going to learn how to write our story from our planning page, different ways to start our stories, how to sound words out and how to write words we know in a snap. We are also going to use known words to spell other words.

Star of the Week…
We are so excited to learn about Logan this week!

Don’t forget!
–Library day this week is Wednesday!
–Report Cards will be available to view online on Wednesday, January 15th
–R.E.D. Folders are due back on Friday.
–No School on Monday, January 20th.

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! We are also going to continue spending some time reviewing rules and expectations for school. We want to start out 2020 on a positive note and make sure that we are ready to learn and prepare for First Grade! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
