Coming up this week! {11/11-11/15}

Welcome back for the fourth week in 2nd Quarter! We have a lot of exciting learning to look forward to this week!

Literacy
We are starting Unit 4! This unit is entitled, “Around the Neighborhood!” Our essential question is “What do people use to do their jobs?” We are going to continue practicing the ABC chant each day. We will be learning letter Oo this week. Our high-frequency word this week is you. Our vocabulary words are: equipment, uniform, utensils, expect, & remained. Our category words this week are job words. Our grammar skill for the week is adjectives (describing words).

Math
This week we will be finishing up Unit 2. We will be focusing on numbers 1-10, the -1 pattern, and problem solving. Your child will be bringing home their math homework folder on Monday this week. Please be sure to have your child complete their homework and return it the next day. We will be taking our Unit 2 math test on Friday.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are continuing Quarter 2 writing! We are going to be working on how our voices sound when we read punctuation, using capital letters, reviewing spaces between words, reviewing conventions, and writing words we know by heart. We are becoming writers and it is so exciting to see!

Integrated…
We are going to finish our Weather and Seasons unit this week!  We will learn all about temperature, severe weather, and so much more! We will also be starting our Celebrations unit with Mrs. Cathey this week. We can’t wait to tell you about all of the different celebrations we learn about from all over the world.

Star of the Week…
We loved learning about Keegan last week! Keegan’s favorite animal is a monkey, he is really good at football, and he wants to be a dad when he grows up! We are excited to be learning all about Zara this week!

Don’t forget! Library days this week are Monday and Thursday!
Don’t forget! PTO Dine-Out at Noodles is Tuesday, November 12th.
Don’t forget! Book orders are due 11/15/19 at https://orders.scholastic.com/M4ZGJ
Don’t forget! R.E.D. folders are due on Friday!

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
