Coming up this week! {10/21-10/25}

Welcome back for the first week in 2^nd Quarter! We have a lot of exciting learning to look forward to this quarter!

Literacy…
We are beginning Unit 3! This unit is entitled, “Going Places!” Our essential question is “What rules do we follow in different places?” We are going to continue practicing the ABC chant each day. We will be learning letter Ii this week. Our high-frequency word this week is to. Our vocabulary words are: rule, cooperate, guard, prank, & responsible. Our category words this week are action words. Our grammar skill for the week is complete sentences.

Math…
This week we will be continuing Unit 2 and learning more about addition and subtraction stories and the +1 pattern. Your child will be bringing home their math homework folder on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week. Please be sure to have your child complete their homework and return it the next day.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are starting Quarter 2 writing! We are going to be learning about writing conferences, what to do when we’re “done,” and how to use the word wall to help us with our writing.

Integrated…
We are going to be using our Second Step curriculum to talk about bullying prevention this week. We will be learning how to recognize bullying, report bullying, refuse bullying, and how to be a responsible bystander.

Star of the Week…
Our next Star of the Week will be the week of October 28^th.
