Coming up this week! {9/16-9/20}

Welcome back for week #6 in Kindergarten! We have so much to learn and do!

Literacy
We are continuing Unit 1! Our essential question is “How can your senses help you learn?” We are going to continue practicing the ABC chant each day. We will be learning letter Ss this week. Our high-frequency word this week is see. Our vocabulary words are: explore, senses, feast, finished, kneads. Our grammar skill for the week is nouns.

Math
This week we will be finishing Unit 1. We are going to continue working with patterns, comparing numbers, learning how to do dot-to-dot, and reviewing shapes. We will have our first math test next Monday! Your child will be bringing home their math homework folder on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Please be sure to have your child complete their homework and return it the next day.

Writer’s Workshop…
We are going to continue learning all about our Writer’s Workshop routine! This week we will learn how to count the words we want to write, use fingers spaces, introduce ending punctuation (? . !), learn that ending punctuation tells us to stop, and that capital letters are at the beginning of a sentence. We are becoming writers!

Integrated…
We are starting our School Safety unit this week! We will be learning all about crosswalks, seatbelts, strangers, fire safety, and so much more! We are so excited to go to a different Kindergarten classroom and learn all about safety from Mrs. Cathey. We can’t wait to tell you about all of the things we learn!

Star of the Week…
We loved learning about Burke last week. Burke’s favorite color is black, his favorite animal is a cheetah, and he is good at sports. We are excited to learn all about Emery this week.

Don’t forget! Library day this week is Wednesday!

Don’t forget! Constitution Day is on Tuesday, September 17th! We are so excited to perform our song, “We Love Our Flag!” We will have an assembly before school. Kindergarten students will meet their teachers on the sidewalk by the flagpole. We will be getting in our classroom lines and preparing to sing. Parents are welcome to stand nearby in the grass and watch.

Don’t forget! Picture Day is on Friday, September 20th.

Don’t forget! Parent-Teacher Conferences sign up is now open! Please be sure to sign up for a time slot with me. I can’t wait to share all about your Kindergarten kiddo!

YAY!!! Our Kindergarten shirts have arrived. Your child will be bringing their shirt home tomorrow!

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
