Welcome back for week #5 in Kindergarten! This is going to be a great week in Kindergarten!

Literacy
We are continuing Unit 1! This unit is titled, “Take a New Step!” This week we will be talking about new friends. Our essential question is “How Do Baby Animals Move?” We are going to continue practicing the ABC chant each day. We will be learning letter Aa this week. Our high-frequency word this week is we. Our vocabulary words are: adventure, movement, arrived, exciting, & exhausted. Our grammar skill for the week is nouns.

Math
This week we will be learning all about numbers 1-10. We will be working with many manipulatives throughout the week. We will be comparing numbers using our comparing mats, learning about pennies, and learning how to create and continue patterns. Your child will be bringing home their math homework folder on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please be sure to have your child complete their homework and return it the next day.

Writer’s Workshop…
We are already learning how to become authors! This week we will be focusing on moving beyond safe drawing, using labels, turtle talking and using the ABC Chant, and modeling how we write words for our stories.

Integrated…
We are going to finish up our Garbology unit this week! We are enjoying learning all about how we can be kind to the earth. We are going to be learning about the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and will continue checking on our worms and decay items throughout the week.
