Coming up this week! {5/6-5/10}

Welcome back for another week in Kindergarten! We have a lot of learning to look forward to this week!

Behavior Goals…
Our classroom and hallway behavior goal this week is “How kindness looks and sounds.” Our lunchroom goal is “I will clean up my mess.”

We are finishing up Unit 10 this week! Our essential question is “What Ideas Can You Suggest to Protect the Environment?” We are reviewing long vowels: a_e, i_e, o_e, u_e, e_e, ee. We are reviewing the high-frequency words help, too, has, play, where, look, good, who, come & does. Our vocabulary words are: environment, protect, recycle, wisely, & encourage.  Our category words this week are baby animals. Our grammar skill for the week is pronouns. We are testing our HFW on Monday: has, play, where, look, good, who, come, does.

This week we will be finishing Unit 5. We will be working on comparing length, height, and area, comparing weight and capacity, and focusing on problem solving. There will be a Family Letter coming home on Wednesday this week.

Writer’s Workshop…
We will be doing our Writing Post-assessment this week. We will also be working on Opinion writing.

We are starting our Nutrition unit this week. We are excited to learn about the five food groups and how we can take care of our bodies.

Star of the Week…
We loved learning about Kendyl last week! Kendyl’s favorite color is teal and her favorite animal is a koala. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up. We are all finished with Star of the Week! It has been so much fun learning about each of our friends in Room 104!

Don’t forget!
–Library days are Tuesday and Friday. Students will not be checking out books this week. Reminder: All Library books are due back by May 10th!
–Be sure to finish and send back your All About Me books if you haven’t yet.

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week as we work on finishing up 4th quarter strong! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
