Coming up this week! {2/11-2/15}

We have a lot of fun learning to look forward to this week!

Behavior Goals…
Our classroom and hallway behavior goal this week is “no blurting/raise hand.” Our lunchroom goal is “I can talk to my shoulder partner.”

We are starting Unit 7 this week! Our essential question is “How are some animals alike and how are they different?” Our letter of the week is Uu. Our high-frequency words for this week are for & have. Our vocabulary words are: appearance, behavior, exercise, wander, & plenty. Our category words this week are animal pets. Our grammar skill for the week is verbs (past-tense, present-tense, and future-tense).

This week we will be continuing to work in Unit 4. We will be focusing on teen numbers, partners, and comparing. There will be a Family Letter coming home on Wednesday this week.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are continuing Quarter 3 writing! We will be working hard on adding details to our stories and reviewing all of the things we have learned. We are becoming writers and it is so exciting to see!

We are going to continue our unit on Weather and Sun this week!

Star of the Week…
We enjoyed learning about Will last week. Will’s favorite color is green and he wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up. We are excited to learn about Emsley this week.

Don’t forget!
–Library day this week is Wednesday!
–Our Valentine’s Party is on Thursday! Students may bring their Valentines starting Monday. I will store them until we pass them out on Thursday during our Valentine’s party.  A couple of reminders: please have your child write their name only, only non-edible treats are permitted, we have 18 in our class. Also, if you wish to donate Valentine’s stickers/decorations, we will use them to decorate our bags on Wednesday. This is not required, but you are welcome to donate if you wish.

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
