Coming up this week! {5/7-5/11}

Welcome back for another week in Kindergarten! We have a lot of learning to look forward to this week!

Behavior Goals…
Our classroom and hallway behavior goal this week is “How kindness looks and sounds.” Our lunchroom goal is “I will clean up my mess.”

We are finishing up Unit 10 this week! Our essential question is “What Ideas Can You Suggest to Protect the Environment?” We are reviewing long vowels: a_e, i_e, o_e, u_e, e_e, ee. We are reviewing the high-frequency words help, too, has, play, where, look, good, who, come & does. Our vocabulary words are: environment, protect, recycle, wisely, & encourage.  Our category words this week are baby animals. Our grammar skill for the week is pronouns.

This week we will be finishing Unit 5. We will be working on comparing length, height, and area, comparing weight and capacity, and focusing on problem solving. There will be no more homework or Family Letters coming home.

Writer’s Workshop…
This week we are continuing Quarter 4 writing! We are jumping right back into “Stories From Our Lives.”

We are starting our Nutrition unit this week. We are excited to learn about the five food groups and how we can take care of our bodies.

Star of the Week…
We loved learning about Chase last week! Chase’s favorite color is green and his favorite animal is a cheetah. He wants to be a cop when he grows up. We are excited to learn about McKenna this week!

Don’t forget!
–Library days are Tuesday and Friday. Students will be checking out books this week but will leave them at school since books are due back to the library on May 10th.

We have so much to learn and look forward to this week as we get further into 4th quarter! Thanks for partnering with us to make this a successful year in Kindergarten!
