Welcome to Goodrich Middle School

A Message from our Principal…

Rachellé Conner, Principal

Greetings Goodrich Stakeholders,

Welcome to Goodrich Middle School, home of the Dragons-bringing the heat so that all students achieve at grade level or above! Our nearly 700 students and 100 certified and classified staff members make us a wonderfully unique and diverse community of life-long- learners and community contributing citizens.  Our commitment to achievement is fueled by our engaging instructional strategies designed to further recognize and develop our strengths individually and collectively.   Our students and their families are our most important stakeholders of whom we are dedicated to serve academically, behaviorally, and socially.  All staff are purposeful and proud of our students and their successes as we continue to provide: 1) rigorous academic programming, 2) a safe place to learn and take risks, 3) encouragement for students to connect the classroom content to their lives outside of school, and more importantly, 4) where dreams are created and realized.

Please take some time to learn about the four cornerstones of how we conduct business at Goodrich Middle School.  1) School Improvement that drives our what and why, 2) Professional Learning Communities that influences our how and when, 3) Behavior Intervention Team Support which provides consistency in addressing undeveloped skills, and 4) EdVenture which enriches the strong academics that are already in place with practice outside the typical instruction.  Each of these cornerstones makes our daring dragon.  These cornerstones accentuate the power that goes to the valiancy, boldness, heroism, and perseverance, energetic, decisive, optimistic, intelligent, and ambition of the dragon. When each of these systems works well, it is complimentary to the other systems in our Learning Community that translates into greater student achievement.

Lastly, partnering with families is critical as we work together to get the necessary supports in place for all students.   As we continue to develop programs that push students to be life- long-learners, critical consumers of information, and a community contributing citizens who can and will be successful where ever they may end up, we must work together.  We already know that our students are among the finest in the country.  When you add that our parents and surrounding community giving us unparalleled support, we have all of the ingredients for a successful Learning Community.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to positively productive year!

Sincerely,

Rachelle’ C. Conner, Principal

History of Goodrich Middle School

Goodrich Middle School opened in 1969. Goodrich was named after Thomas V. Goodrich, a teacher and administrator in the Lincoln Public Schools from 1903 until 1947. The school mascot was originally the Olympians. The student body selected the name “Olympians” during the first year Goodrich School was open. The name was selected to represent the variety of activities offered at Goodrich School. The student body also compared Belmont, a high place overlooking the city of Lincoln, to Mount Olympus.
