READING MINUTES

As part of your child’s weekly homework, we are asking them to read for 75 minutes.  Each Friday students will bring home a reading minutes sheet.  Students should record their minutes for the week, total them up, and have an adult sign the sheet.  Reading minutes are due each Friday unless otherwise noted.  If you lose your sheet we are fine with you recording the information on a piece of scratch paper.   Students who turn in their minutes with the correct information and have not had behavior issues that week will get to participate in Free Time Friday each week.  It is extremely important to have a set time for your child to read outside of school on a regular basis.  We appreciate your support of this activity.

MATH MINUTES

Each month we will be sending home calendars on which students can record the number of minutes they spend working on basic math facts.  This will be a required monthly homework assignment for all students.  They will need to practice 125 minutes each month.  That is approximately 4 minutes per day!  Students can practice with flashcards, on a computer, in a workbook, do mental math, or any other way that you can think of.
