Managing EC iPads

  • The Early Childhood iPads are in the LPS “Program Managed iPads” category. Please follow the below guidelines for management of them. If you have any question, please e-mail Laura Bartels at lbartel@lps.org
  • About the EC iPads:
  • The EC iPads managed via a district created iTunes account. This account follows the Apple’s Volume Purchasing Program (VPP) guidelines and regulations.
  • The VPP allows us to buy multiple app licenses to use in the image for the academic programs, in this case, EC.
  • The EC iPads manager (Laura Bartels) works with Computing Services to coordinate app volume purchases and maintenance (updates) of the devices as needed.
  • You may request particular apps to be added to the image. Recommendation will be taken into account, considering budget and ability to update the devices.
  • Unfortunately, you may NOT add apps to the VPP iPads as stipulated by Apple’s VVP. This means that the iPad should NEVER be synced and/or used to access other (individual or volume) iTunes account. Additionally if a Program Managed iPad is in sync with another account, the particular iPad will not be able to updated when updates occur.

*If your iPad(s) has been accessed by another iTunes account and/or has been synced to another account, please contact Laura Bartels at lbartel@lps.org as soon as possible.

  • Keeping the iPads safe and secure
  • The iPads should lock after 4 hrs of no use.
  • Please do not change the settings on the iPads as this may prevent us from running updates, troubleshooting issues and tracking the iPad in the event it would go missing.
  • In the event one of the iPads goes missing, please call the LPS Helpdesk (1735) right away and let them know that one of the “ELL iPads – tag ######” is missing (consider writing and keeping your iPads LPS Tag numbers handy – barcode number on sticker on the back of the device). The helpdesk will attempt to track and find the location of the device parting from the tag number.
  • Please find a locked cabinet or similar to store the iPads in your classroom when not in use to prevent loss or theft. It might be a good idea to charge the iPads batteries at the end of the day, at the beginning or during your plan time when you can be around the devices, unless of course the locked location is a place where you can charge. Batteries should last you at least a school day.
