Opener:  Where could you find a “brown recluse” spider?

Summary:  describe how a black widow and a brown recluse spider’s venom is different.

  • Discuss spiders
  • watch “you tube” of spiders
  • Assign to focus on Crustacia, p 476-486.

Lesson objective: I will learn about the crayfish’s anatomy

Opener: What do the swimmerets do on a crayfish?

Summary:  How is the crayfish’s circulatory similar to an earthworm’s?

  • Hand out the crayfish lab.
Friday, Oct 21

Lesson objective:  I will become familiar with the anatomy of a crayfish.

Opener: Why must you be careful of the rostrum?

Summary: Have I improved in using a lab to help me learn all the parts of the crayfish?

Lesson objective:  I will be able to contrast three classes of Arthropods

Opener:  In a paragraph list 3 things about the three body areas of the three classes that we have studied.

Summary:  Contrast the respiratory system of a spider and an insect.

  • study the chapter and complete the opener and the summary
  • Hand in Grasshopper lab
Thursday, Oct. 27

Lesson objective:  I will gain understanding about the similarities and differences of the three classes of arthropods that we studied in class.

Opener:  I will share with another student and discuss the differences that I have on each of the classes

Summary:  I will evaluate whether or not that I am ready for the exam.

  • Hand back Grasshopper lab
  • Bring resources to class to study
  • Arthropod review for exam on Friday.
  • Study for the three major classes of Arthropods
(The exam will consist of three separate quizzes.)
