JA ESSAY – DUE TO MRS. WOLKEN BY Friday, February 24 (to be eligible for scholarship consideration) and for Quarter 3 grade.

The extended date (to avoid a permanent 0-zero for the summative/essay grade) is Friday, March 10.

SCHOLARSHIP FINALISTS TO MOVE TO THE FINAL ROUND WILL BE NOTIFIED BY Wednesday, March 1.
Revised essay, transcript, and work experience/activity lists will be due to Mrs. Wolken by Wednesday, March 8.
Scholarship applications will be submitted to the JA office by Friday, March 10 where LNE scholarship recipient(s) are chosen.

The selection of scholarship recipients will be influenced by the completeness of replies, neatness, legibility, proper grammar, punctuation and spelling on the application form and the essay. Awards are made without regard to race, color, creed, sex, religion, disability or national origin. Awards will be given Spring, 2017.

    • Based on your experience and what you have learned in JA Exploring Economics, what will it take to be a successful entrepreneur in today’s economy.

    • Refer to your JA Exploring Economics booklet; refer to some of the topics we have covered or will in future sessions with our JA volunteer.

JA ESSAY – DUE TO MRS. WOLKEN BY Wednesday, October 12, to be eligible for scholarship consideration and Friday, October 14 for Quarter 1 grade. The extended date (to avoid a permanent 0 (zero) for the summative/essay grade) is Friday, November 4.

SCHOLARSHIP FINALISTS TO MOVE TO THE FINAL ROUND WILL BE NOTIFIED BY FRIDAY, November 4. Revised essay, transcripts, and work experience/activity lists will be due to Mrs. Wolken by  Thursday, November 10. Scholarship applications will be submitted to the JA office by Monday, November 14, where LNE scholarship recipient(s) are chosen.

JA ESSAY CALENDAR:

  • Wednesday, October 12–JA Essay due to Mrs. Wolken (for scholarship consideration)
  • Friday, October 14–JA Essay due to Mrs. Wolken to avoid a zero summative for Quarter 1.
  • Friday, November 4–Final deadline to submit. IF NOT TURNED IN BY THIS DATE, A SUMMATIVE ZERO FOR  WILL BE ENTERED.
  • Friday, November 4–LNE Finalists will be notified by this date.
  • Thursday, November 10–Revised essay, transcripts, and work experience/activity lists submitted. Mrs. Wolken will request your transcripts from counselors.
  • Monday, November 14–All materials will be submitted to JA office by Mrs. Wolken. The JA office will select LNE recipient(s).

The selection of scholarship recipients will be influenced by the completeness of replies, neatness, legibility, proper grammar, punctuation and spelling on the application form and the essay. Awards are made without regard to race, color, creed, sex, religion, disability or national origin. Awards will be given/announced Spring, 2017

    • Refer to your JA Exploring Economics booklet; refer to some of the topics we have covered or will in future sessions with our JA volunteer.
    • Begin with an ‘introductory paragraph’ and introduce 2 to 3 points you plan to make in your essay.
    • Write your essay explaining those 2 to 3 points (1 point per paragraph).
