Parent/Teacher conferences are right around the corner. Conferences will be held at Scott Middle School on Sept. 11 and 16 from 3:30 to 6. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents. In middle school we do not schedule conferences. Teachers are set up in the pods and parents get in line to talk with the teachers who teach their child. Conferences are quick, so although the line might appear long, they move very quickly.
Writer’s Notebooks are due this Friday, August 29. Students need to have six complete entries. These entries are listed on the board in the classroom. Be sure to have your notebook neat, organized, and have all entries included. You should feel proud to hand in this work in progress!
We are wrapping up our first literature groups. The Cay needs to be completed by Tuesday, Sept. 2 The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle needs to be able to discuss chapters 13-18 by Tuesday. The book needs to be completed by Sept. 9. Be sure to bring your book with you to class each day!
Because of the Labor Day Weekend holiday, day 5 of the testing schedule will fall on Wednesday. That means the spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension tests will be on Wednesday until Fall Break. Be sure to continue studying!
I hope you’ve enjoyed your first few weeks of school! It always feels good to me to be back in the school routine. August has been a great month!
