Culler Middle School is a professional learning community with a tradition of service, a culture of collaboration, and a commitment to student learning.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Culler students in grades 6-8 will be participating in the Nebraska State Accountability Reading (NeSA-R), Math (NeSA-M) and Science (NeSA-S) tests with their teachers starting on April 12th and concluding on April 26th.

The NeSA-R, NeSA-M, and NeSA-S are the state reading, math, and science achievement tests. All students in Nebraska in grades 3-8 and 11 will take the reading and math tests. All students in grades 5, 8, and 11 take the science test. The Nebraska Department of Education will send out score reports for students and schools in late summer.

There are several things parents can do to positively contribute to their child’s success. Please remind your student to charge their device. Encourage your child to put forth their best effort with positive statements expressing confidence in their abilities and their efforts. A good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast will go a long way to help your child best show what they know and are able to do on the test. Students need to keep cell phones, ear buds, headphones in their lockers during testing. If a student brings a phone to the class, where testing is occurring, the phone must be turned into the teacher until the end of the test, no exceptions. Finally, being in school on time during testing is very important. Please reschedule any appointments that may take your child out of school on the testing dates listed above. As always, we appreciate your support!

Please call me at 436-1210 or email at gczapla@lps.org if you have any questions about the NeSA testing. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions specific to your child’s classroom testing schedule or other test administration questions.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gary Czapla
