JA is here

Hi,

Junior Achievement will be here all week. This is a great program that goes along with our Social Studies curriculum about We the Workers.

Today, the website kids.usa.gov/jobs was shared with us. There are a lot of resources and desciptions about all different kinds of jobs. It is worth checking out. There is a section for parents as well.

Unit 14 Math Homework

Hi Families~

Unit 14 in Math is about measuring. The homework in a little more parent involved then past homework lessons have been. It is asking you to measure the capacity of different containers, compare the mass on objects and measure using the width of a finger.

The tested objectives for this week are going to be fractions, measuring to the nearest inch, converting measurements  3 feet=1 yard, and the best unit to use when measuring.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

How do we use money?

We have been talking about money this week and our essential question is “How do we use money?” We have talked about spending, saving and donating our money. We also have learned about how dollar bills are made and destroyed and how long they are in circulation. I are tracking a dollar bill I had with me. Something fun to do at home would be to register and track a dollar bill that you have at home on www.wheresgeorge.com.

Math Groupings

New math groupings will be starting when we come back from Spring Break. As we looked at data and students, the team decided that we needed to try some new groupings to meet the needs of all students. Some of my students will be walking to Mr. Erickson’s or Miss Brock’s class for Math and some of their students will be walking to my room for Math.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about these new groupings. We want all students to be successful and challenged at school.
