Curriculum

Our class will be using the research-based “Talking About Touching,” “The Creative Curriculum,” and “Second Steps” programs throughout the year to teach important skills.

“Talking About Touching” will teach children skills that will help keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. Children will also learn to appropriately ask for help when they need it. “Second Steps” program focuses on critical social and emotional skills that children will need in order to be successful in their years in PreK. Lessons include skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, friendship skills and problem solving, as well as skills your child will need as they transition to Kindergarten.

Our general preschool curriculum is called “The Creative Curriculum.” This curriculum guides teachers as they interact with children to promote development and learning in the areas of math, literacy, science, language, the arts and social competency through play based experiences. You will receive information on your child’s growth and development through our assessment, “Teaching Strategies GOLD” throughout the year.

Your child will also be learning about how to “do school” as they learn and practice Kloefkorn common area expectations, classroom procedures and daily routines.

While your child is in Preschool, you will receive “wrap-up” information on Fridays that will give you insight to lessons that are being taught in the classroom each week. This update  will include information on how you can help your child learn and practice specific academic, social/emotional or safety skills while they are at home.
