This week we went on a scavenger hunt around Kloefkorn to look for evergreen and deciduous trees and we began our discussion about who lives in trees. We talked about what types of animals and insects live in trees and what types of animals and insects are harmful or helpful to trees.
In small groups this week the students practiced counting and number identification, how to observe and write or draw their ideas, and how to put together rhyming words. Rhyming words are sometimes tricky for preschool students and they need a lot of intentional practice to solidify their understanding. You can start having conversations about words that rhyme by talking about it at the dinner table. What rhymes with cup, plate, mat, etc? Accept and produce nonsense words as well to help support your child in producing rhyming words.
Our social emotional curriculum dove into some more safety rules. We learned safety rules about always asking adults first, guns, fire, dogs, and how to get found if you are lost. Take a minute to review these important safety rules with your child at home to help them generalize the rule between environments.
