This week we began our Building Study! We have been talking about what we already know about buildings and what we would like to learn about buildings. We introduced new building materials in the classroom and the students have been hard at work making structures together.
Our small groups focused on making letters with new materials and letter identification, finding buried treasure in the sensory table, and retelling The Three Little Pigs using props. Ask your child if they can tell you the story of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Red Dog (Clifford version).
Our social emotional curriculum focused on same and different. We talked about how it’s okay for you to have a different feeling than a friend about the same thing. For example, one friend might really like to play in the block area and another friend might not like that activity as much. We’ve been continuing our discussion of big vs small problems. We always ask them student, “Is this a big problem or a small problem?” We also use a rating scale from 1 (no problem) to 5 (emergency).
We have gone ahead and planned the activities for our kiddos for our fall party. If you would like to come and participate with your child, you are more than welcome to do so. Our party begins at 1:30 and concludes around 2:00 at which time you can choose to take your child home early, you can leave until pick-up, or stay to hang out with us 🙂 I just ask that you let me know what your plans are ahead of time. Thanks!
