Google Maps Update: Street View in Nebraska

Google Maps Update

Street View has been added to much of the Lincoln/Omaha Nebraska area. I swore that I saw one of their camera-cars driving through town a few months ago, but couldn’t get close enough to verify. Apparently I was not imagining things.

What I love is that while only about 20% of the city of Lincoln is covered, hundreds of miles of dirt roads AROUND Lincoln are in there! I quickly found a couple of my rural locations of choice for photography, and may use this tool to scout new ones.

There is also a new tab called “More…” in which you can toggle on/off photos taken in the area, as well as relevant WikiPedia links. These are both layers that have been available in Google Earth for a long time, but it is wonderful to have them available in the Maps view now.

I haven’t seen a mention of it anywhere, which means I’m eiether the first or the last to notice that Google Maps has added a couple of amazing new things…

What a lovely surprise to come across these new items this afternoon!
