Turning Learning Right Side Up: Putting Education Back on Track

Turning Learning Right Side Up: Putting Education Back on Track

There are so many choice quotes from this pdf that I couldn’t pick one, so I’m just linking to it.

I was lucky enough to have a great provocateur of Constructivist theory who guided me through my Master’s program in 99-01. His name is Brent Wilson. He instilled in me a deep respect for learning as something that could ONLY come from within. (Otherwise you are just “remembering.”)

After time with him, I really began to embrace Constructivism as an idea, though I have not been fortunate enough to see it in action in any systemic approach. Only what I could get away with applying in bits and pieces within my own traditional classroom walls.

Brent said that Constructivism was how Education was born, and that he felt it would come back around as a prevailing thoery in Education in due time. More and more things I am reading lately are leading me to believe he was right.
