ccLearn

ccLearn is a branch of Creative Commons launching this summer with significant funding by the The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. I’m a big fan of CC and what they have accomplished so far. Keep your eye on this branch of the tree and expect great resources for us in Education.

I am all for technology increasing the capabilities of Educators. However, I do find it to be an interesting conundrum that we are seeing so many wonderful and lofty goal statements like theirs

“changing the culture of educational practice so that teachers have greater control over their classrooms and pedagogy, greater freedom to experiment”

while everything I have encountered in educational systems and especially heard from the Government (NCLB) promotes the exact opposite of this goal. More standardization, more testing, more coverage of the tested content, LESS experimenting and pedagogical freedom for teachers.

We can dream though, can’t we?
