Career Cruising

Career Cruising is an interests, strengths, and career exploratory program that we introduce to our 6th grade students at Mickle.  Career Cruising contains many activities that students will complete while in middle school to better understand their areas of interest and personal skills that will help them move toward a successful career choice.  Students identify through different surveys and research activities, how their future might look as they enter the adult world.  Their choices can also help drive their schedule selections in high school as they move toward taking classes that fit their interests and goals.  Finally the program helps them set career and life goals and helps to develop a reasonable path to how they can achieve their life goals both while in high school and beyond.

Students receive access cards with their personal information to Career Cruising.  They can log-on anytime and explore different careers and life choices.  In 7th grade career exploration with also be a part of their Language Arts curriculum.  Visit www.careercruising.com for more information and to start exploring!!!

ACES Courses

Remember Our Exciting ACES Courses!!!

ACES or Academic Connections classes are a great way for Mickle 6th graders to experience education in a very exploratory way.  These classes are quarterly and each student will be given the opportunity to participate in each.  It is also a good way to make a connection to a subject area that you may want to expand on with future classes in 7th and 8th grade or even into high school.  As we move into a more connected world it is important for all of our students to have experience and background in many different areas including the Academic Connections classes.  These classes at Mickle include……

Healthy Living

Art

Skilled and Technical Sciences

World Languages

Parent Advisory Council

Parent Advisory Council is a group of parents, school counselors, administration, and CLC staff here at Mickle that work toward community outreach and engagement.  It serves as a voice for parents to give input and feedback on school programs and community connections for our students.

Activities that the council can help to organize include on-campus and off-campus Mickle nights.  This might include skating, bowling, the library, community volunteer projects, and much more.

If you are interested in being part of this group or just have some ideas for projects or engagement for our students please contact Mr. Penner here at school to get started.
