Finishing Up the Tree study and Same and Different Feelings

Hello Families,

We have officially finished our tree study. We learned so much about trees! We learned how the grow and change, how to take care of them, what we can use them for, the different parts of trees and so much more. I hope your student came home and talked about our celebration Friday. We went into the butterfly garden and played in the leaves. We threw the leaves into the air and buried each other in the leaves. We had so much fun! Take a look at the photos page for some great pictures of this day.

In small groups this week students we practiced rhyming, patterns and shape characteristics. We practiced rhyming using funny riddles like; my dad drives something that rhymes with stuck. Students had fun trying to figure out the riddles. We had some fun making patterns our of magnetic toys. We made some fun patterns with apples, ducks, butterflies and stars. We looked at some fun 3 dimensional shapes this week and different toys that are those shapes. Students worked on describing what the shapes looked like and that they had many side (faces) on them. We talked about cubes, spheres, cylinders, and pyramids. What fun activities!

We are so excited to be starting our clothing study this week. We will be learning so much about different types of clothes, how clothes are made and what materials are used. We are planning on having students make their own article of clothing. We might be looking for help with this or materials to support this activity. Look for more information as we get further into the study. We plan on celebrating the end of clothing with a fashion show put on by our preschoolers. This will be during our family socialization in February. You can see more information on this by clicking on the calendars tab above and looking at the family socialization calendar.

In Second Steps this week we covered Same and Different Feelings. We talked about having different feelings about the same situation. Thursday we got to play a game to see who had the same or different feelings about a situation such as; getting a pet mouse, picking up toys all by yourself or going down a really big slide. See below for the home link for you to use at home.

We want to remind you that our thanksgiving celebration is coming up in November 25th. We will be watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with our kiddos and having the same meal as the movie (popcorn, jelly beans, toast with butter and pretzel sticks). We would love for you to come join in the celebration. The AM class will be having there celebration from 8:50-9:20 in the preschool classroom and the PM class will be having their celebration from 3:10-3:45. We look forward to seeing you there.

Thank you for all you do to support your students growth! Please let us know if you have any questions.
