Week of the Young Child

Hello Families,

What a busy and exciting week! We had a blast with our celebration of young children. Music Monday we made instruments like a guitar, bells and maracas. We also went to go to the music room with Mrs. Dohmen and danced with other grade levels. Tasty Tuesday we got to make strawberry banana smoothies and play games with food with Mr. Rinne. Work together Wednesday we built structures together with different building materials like magnatiles, shoeboxes and legos. We also went to the gym with Mr. Armagost and worked with other grade levels on relay races. We spelled Pyrtle with tennis balls that we retrieved from the other end of the gym. Artsy Thursday we made some fun paintings with marbles, bubbles and watercolors. We also went to the art room with Mrs. Brumm and made thumbprint pendants out of clay. We are hoping to get these back sometime and paint them. For Family Friday we went to the library with Mrs. Spaulding and got to read a fun book about families. We also played some fun games with family members that were able to come in and some even stayed to play with us during choice time.  This was a wonderful way to end the week with family.  Thank you

We would like to send a special thanks to Ms. Kim for putting so much love and time into her work with us in preschool. This was her last week subbing for Ms. Jamie. We would also, like to welcome Ms. Jamie back Monday. I am sure it will be hard to leave her new bundle of joy for a little while each day. We will be finishing our last week of our Tubes and Tunnels study this coming week and then moving on to our last study, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

In Second Steps the last 2 weeks we have been coving how to solve a problem. We have talked about thinking of a solution to our problems and speaking up assertively. When we have a problem we first need to calm our boy and then we are able to say the problem and think of a solution. When we think of a solution, we should think of a couple and chose the solution that we think will work best. If we are having problems with other people we want to speak up assertively, using our strong respectful voice. Attached are the home links that will help you practice these skills at home. These were our last 2 second steps lessons of the year. We will be reviewing as necessary any of these skills we have taught until the end of the year. We will also be reviewing some of our safety lessons that have been taught in the Talking about Touching Curriculum.

Thinking of Solutions

Speaking Up Assertively

Thank you for all of the resent donations we have been asking for. They have been useful and wonderful for the students to use.  Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for all you do!!!
