Dear Families,

As we look forward to American Education Week, we are reminded that education is a daily, ongoing, lifelong process.  We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with your children.  We also appreciate all the help and support given to us by parents and staff, which combine to make Morley School such an outstanding school.  The quote, “It takes a whole village to raise a child”, surely rings true!  American Education Week annually spotlights the importance of providing every child in America with quality public schools so that they can grow, prosper, and achieve in the 21st Century.  From kindergarten to the end of high school, a student’s home and classroom are the focal points of their learning experiences.  Parents working with teachers and students help children to achieve academic success.

At this special time of year we are reminded of a quote from Tom Brokaw:

“There is a place in America to take a stand:  it is public
education.  It is the underpinning of our cultural and
political system.  It is the great common ground.  Public
education after all is the engine that moves us as a society
toward a common destiny.  It is in public education that the
American dream begins to take shape.”

Homework is coming back and forth to school most of the time.  This is good!  We appreciate the children’s efforts, and the support of you parents for your assistance to make this endeavor successful.  The children are becoming quite conscientious in fulfilling their responsibilities in completing their homework assignments.  However, gentle reminders about being punctual in completing and returning their homework assignments is sometimes still needed.

We hope you had an opportunity to admire our beautiful pumpkin decorations that adorned the tables at the Chili Feed/Book Fair last week.   These decorations are now decorating the lunchrooms at Lincoln Benefit and Life and Union Bank.

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are grateful for the opportunity to work with your children.  We are delighted with each student’s enthusiasm for learning and appreciate the supportive role you play at home always encouraging reading, writing, math, and the exploration of new ideas.  We   would like to wish all of you a very happy Thanksgiving.  May you have a wonderful holiday enjoying the special times you share with family and friends.  As this season of giving thanks draws near, we are constantly reminded of the wonderful things we are so thankful for.  We appreciate the opportunity to work with your children.  Their unique qualities bring a special newness to each day and activity.  Thank you, too, for your continuing interest and support!
