A Message From Our Principal…

Welcome to the Clinton Elementary School website.  We are committed to our students and their achievement.  Our mission is: “High expectations for every child to succeed in our changing world.”  The Clinton staff is dedicated to continuous improvement and doing whatever it takes to create student success.  We believe in our motto, “Work hard, get smart, work harder, get smarter.”  Teachers work collaboratively in professional learning teams to study their students’ achievement data, discuss strategies that are working well, and plan for the implementation of new instructional and assessment strategies.

Clinton is a Title I elementary school serving multicultural urban pre-K through Grade 5 students.  We are located at 29th and Holdrege Streets in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Our school, with a current enrollment of nearly 500 students, opened in 1891. The Clinton building and the street on which it is built are the namesakes of DeWitt Clinton, former governor of the state of New York.  The original Clinton schoolhouse was torn down and the replacement, our current building, was built in 1926.  The Clinton building, a Collegiate Gothic style has a prominent and stately presence in the neighborhood.  In 2006 a major renovation occurred and included the addition of more classrooms, a kitchen and a gymnasium.

At Clinton, we honor the diversity and strengths of each student while promoting an orderly and respectful school environment.  Through our Behavior Intervention Support Team (BIST), our building-wide student management plan, we have two guiding principles for students: it is never okay to be hurtful, and it is never okay to be disruptive.  Through BIST, we teach common expectations and procedures for use across the building.

Through our energetic Parental Information and Resource Center (PIRC), three organizations are in place to advance parent/family involvement.  The Clinton Parent Organization, Clinton Educational Parent Group, and Clinton Adult Literacy each actively promote school activities, fund raising, networking and adult education/language instruction.  The strong partnerships at Clinton between staff, students, parents, and community play a key role in our work to continually improve student achievement.

You are invited to visit us anytime.  We think you will find our school to be a friendly and welcoming place for students and families.

Sincerely,
Terry Neddenriep, Principal
