Welcome to Cavett Elementary

Cavett Elementary is located at 7701 South 36th Street.   The school is named after Alva and Dorcas Cavett, two respected Lincoln educators.  Cavett is identical in size and design to three other Lincoln Elementary Schools:   Maxey, Roper, and Campbell.

When opened in 1995, Cavett  covered 66,602  square feet and had the ability to house 448 students. Due to growth in Lincoln and in the Pine Lake/Williamsburg area, Cavett was quickly overflowing. In 2007-08 additional classroom space of  27,645  square feet was added, increasing the capacity of the school to 792 students and eliminating all portable classroom buildings from the school site.

A message from our principal…

Kathy Evasco, Principal

Welcome to the Cavett Elementary School website!   We hope you will use this site to learn about our school and activities.

The Cavett Cardinals are an outstanding group of students, teachers, and families who work together in our school community.   Our priority is always successful student learning.  Cavett’s mission statement “ Teaching Learning, and Caring to develop productive, responsible citizens”  describes the commitment of our entire teaching staff to the support and growth of students.

Our school is organized into grade level teams in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. We also have an ExCITE/ECSE combination preschool classroom that serves 18 children.

Each grade level has either five or six classroom sections dependent upon enrollment at that level.  We’re proud of our beautiful building and the positive learning environment at our school.  We are also proud that Cavett families are highly involved in our school, providing classroom volunteers, strong support for student learning, and an active, collaborative Parent Teacher Organization.

We are committed to provide students with a safe learning environment which assists student achievement and positive social development.  Our school believes that Character Counts! We teach about the six pillars of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship, Trustworthiness, Fairness and Caring.   Our basic schoolwide management principles are simple:  It is never okay to be disruptive and it is never okay to be hurtful. We focus on teaching and practicing safe school behaviors with all students.

High expectations, a rigorous curriculum, a focus on results, and maintaining a student centered environment—these are important at Cavett.  Welcome to our school!  We’re glad to have you visit virtually or in person!

Sincerely,

Kathleen Evasco
Principal
