Spanish 2

1. Warm-up – writing an introduction of your best friend, include the Spanish phrase used to introduce someone (ésta, éste es), their name, age, where they are from, as well as 2 physical characteristics and 1 adjective that describes their personality. Practiced this for speaking with partner.

2. Homework – credit given for completion and corrected in class. Students who didn’t have it completed can bring it completed by the end of school today for full credit.

3. Reading/Speaking p. 10  Así se dice. Discussed vocab and then did listening activity 8. Also discussed nota cultural.

4. Adjective agreement p. 11 Act. 9 with partner and used for speaking points. Students also given opportunity to introduce someone for speaking points.

5. Nationality vocab p. 12.

6. Academic Integrity statement handed out and discussed.

7. Homework – 2 things – Study for Quiz on Friday. Memorize and be able to use all vocab, phrases, conjugations of ser and tener, introductions and nationalities. Students are to also read and sign and have parents/guardians also sign and then return the bottom portion tomorrow.

Spanish 1

1. Cognate activity for warm-up. Cognates are words in Spanish and English that are spelled similar and have similar meaning. There are false cognates as well and we discussed examples of those.

2. Alphabet pronunciation, DVD clip, listening and speaking practice with spelling words in Spanish (Act.7) and discussion of the use of accents in Spanish for pronunciation.

3. Worksheet passed out with alphabet and phrases (p. 8) that students will hear in class and need to be able to speak in class. Added 3 phrases at the bottom, Can I go to the bathroom please? Can I go to my locker? Can I go to the drinking fountain? (Discussed that these requests need to be private and not during instruction time, partner work or the first or last 10 minutes of class.)

4. Practiced phrases by playing Simon Dice.

5. Homework – write the English of the phrases on the worksheet. Practice memorizing the alphabet and the phrases you’ll hear and say in class. Sign the Academic Integrity slip and return if you haven’t already.
